Daily Schedule

9:00am. Working parents and their children arrive, sign in and start setting up for the morning.

9:30am. Children arrive and start having fun! Ms. Michelle will have purposeful and creative interactive learning centers and fun hands on activities for the children to explore during their free play.

10:15am. Parents assist the children in straightening up the classroom and play ground, then Group 1 meets on the rug for a short story, game or discussion and share time.  On your work day, your child may bring ONE small toy or memento to share with the class. Group 2 plays outdoors.

10:30am. Group 2 meets on the rug for a short story, game or discussion and share time.  On your work day, your child may bring ONE small toy or memento to share with the class. Group 1 plays outdoors.

10:50am. Children wash hands and have a snack

11:10am. Free play/small group time.

11:35am. Children help clean up and then everyone meets on the rug for music, movement or a story.  

12:00pm. When group time is over, Ms. Denielle allows children to pick a book to look at or borrow prior to dismissal. Ms. Michelle dismisses each child one at a time.

 

Monthly Curriculum

Each month the Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) director provides children with a fun-packed curriculum designed to develop their knowledge and skills and support their love of learning.

Events

Throughout the year there are many planned family activities and celebrations, alongside themed weeks such as Rainforest Week, Outer Space Week etc.

Pre-K Program

The Pre-K Program is created to provide the successful transition from preschool to kindergarten. Children practice classroom skills such as listening and following directions, verbal expression, visual and auditory discrimination, small and large motor coordination and good work habits. Table activities focus on developing skills of matching, sequencing, sorting and classifying objects, counting, tracing, rhyming, cutting, gluing, observing, critical thinking and creativity. Social skills such as waiting for a turn and impulse control is emphasized. Letter, number and name recognition and formation is introduced as we become ready for kindergarten. Children are also introduced to fun homework activities (optional) to be returned the following Monday.

Pre-K Program is available on Monday’s for children who are eligible to attend kindergarten the following school year.

The morning schedule is as follows:

9:30am. Everyone arrives and signs in. Children play outside with working parents supervising.

10:00am. Children line up to go to the rug area. We have pledge of allegiance, roll call, calendar, a short discussion, music or movement activity, story and an explanation of the table activities.

10:15am. Children go to their first assigned table and then move on to other tables as they complete their projects. Each table focuses on a different academic and developmental skill for the children to practice. They should complete all projects and have their activity card stamped at each table.

10:45am. Snack.

11:00am. Recess.

11:45am. Children line up and go to the rug for story time, a goodbye song and dismissal.

12:00pm. Pick-up time.
